Words to live by, especially on a Monday. (Although you may want to wait until after lunch.)
Today New York City has a new “tallest building” as the freedom tower is set to overtake the Empire State building.
Another AWESOME photo from the Enterprise fly by yesterday.
(only enhancement to photo was contrast adjustment)
Over the past couple of days at The Next Web’s conference in Amsterdam, we’ve heard from some very cool speakers and met some really awesome startups. The Startup Rally which has been going on over the past couple of days has now reached its conclusion and we are able to reveal the…
I saw this this morning. It was really remarkable. [oh and we (shelby.tv) just won the the next web 2012]
The Future:
I bought this bulb this morning at Home Depot for about $21. If it does indeed last 20 years (as they say it should) the $130 in savings that they say I should see is dead on accurate (give or take a few bucks). Between the cost of replacement bulbs and savings in electricity this is totally worth it.
For what its worth the bulb really goes for around $60 which to cost prohibitive (even in just a psychological sense) but Home Depot is selling them for around $21. I’m not sure what type of subsidy is going on here but I like it.
This bulb is the winner of an X-Prize for lightbulbs (the L-Prize). Philips was the only company to submit a bulb that came close to the specs that the prize mandated. If you are interested in learning more about this bulb, which i recommend you do, read this:

So I got this new attitude. Now that I am burned out and I’ll never accomplish anything, I’ve got this nice position at the university teaching classes which I rather enjoy, and just like I read the Arabian Nights for pleasure, I’m going to play with physics, whenever I want to, without worrying about any importance whatsoever.
Within a week I was in the cafeteria and some guy, fooling around, throws a plate in the air. As the plate went up in the air I saw it wobble, and I noticed the red medallion of Cornell on the plate going around. It was pretty obvious to me that the medallion went around faster than the wobbling.
Step 3, product.
We need to make it easy for people to come back to content they like. This is our biggest challenge, given the byzantine and organic structure of the Internet and services and consumer expectations we have created on top of it. We need to look at ways of solving this as both distributors as well as producers, considering everything from navigation and usability, marketing tactics, technology and platform functionality, and even the form and format of the content. Once the fish bites, we need to set the hook.
